  1. Laws for minimum insulation requirements of buildings

Currently domestic buildings have no requirements for thermal efficiency. This results in property developers creating buildings that are very efficient to build but very inefficient in the use of resources over their life. Our energy (Money) is just wasted.

    • Higher peak time tolls & HOT lanes

Hong Kong suffers from a few areas of chronic congestion causing high levels of roadside pollution. Higher peak time tolls for key tunnels for single occupancy vehicles could both the reduce peak toxin levels and encourage use of high occupancy vehicles (e.g. buses, Taxi sharing)

      • Extend the clean marine fuel zone

Some vessels need to use clean fuels while entering the harbour. The zone should be extended and include all vessels

        • Reduce pollution from GuangDong Factories

satellite photos reveal that pollution is not local to HK, but is pervasive across the Pearl River delta ... Research suggests the pollution is caused by manufacturing. You may have noticed that before the CNY (when factories are running full bore) pollution is heavier, and at the end of the CNY break its subsided.

          • ISO 14064-1:2006 mandatory for all listed Companies

You get what you measure and ISO 14064-1:2006 is the measurement and management of Greenhouse gasses within organisations. As the Government is now a significant shareholder in HKEX it could request that all companies must be ISO 14064-1:2006 registered to have an IPO or continue listing. We would then all know who were the worst offenders in each category,

            • Buses, truck and ships.

The buses are diesel and have old diesel engines, they make loads of noises and spew out nasty dirty smoke.
Plus! some buses are so old, they don't even have disable access or pram access so ever time I go out with my baby I have to get the taxi and that's not good for the enviroment.
